The Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates were a class of guided-missile frigates in the United States Navy. These frigates were designed in the late 1970s and were named after Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, a hero in the War of 1812. The class was primarily designed for anti-submarine warfare but later versions were equipped with anti-ship and anti-aircraft capabilities.

Here are some key features and details about the Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates:

The frigates were built by the Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, and Todd Shipyards in Seattle, Washington.

The first ship of this class, the USS Oliver Hazard Perry (FFG-7), was commissioned on July 17, 1977.

The frigates were powered by a combined diesel or gas (CODOG) propulsion system, which included gas turbines and diesel engines.

The original design included a Mk 13 guided missile launcher for RIM-66 Standard SM-1MR anti-aircraft missiles, an Mk 16 ASROC launcher for anti-submarine rockets, a 76mm gun, and torpedoes.

Equipped with radar systems for air and surface surveillance, as well as sonar for anti-submarine warfare.

Typically had a crew of around 200 officers and enlisted personnel.

The Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates served as workhorses in the U.S. Navy during the latter part of the Cold War and continued to be used by various navies around the world after they were decommissioned from the U.S. Navy.

It’s important to note that many of the ships of this class have been decommissioned, and their role has been partially replaced by newer ship classes. The frigates served in various roles, including escort duties, anti-submarine warfare, and support for carrier battle groups.

The vehicle is ready for import into your DIS/HLA (RPR FOM) simulation projects. As such, it is not set up as a traditional Unreal asset with an interior but can be modified as needed to suit your purpose.

A sample showcase/demo Blueprint has been included with an environment map and User Interface (UI). When you “Play” the map, the UI includes camera presets, sliders, and buttons to demonstrate the key functionalities of the asset.

  2. Thanks for the models, all are great for populating or learning as I am a simple hobbyist learning unreal engine. I have been spending a lot of time using a top view 2d engine but need to do something in 3d for a change.
